Chapter 89 - The Rebirth of the Syndicate: Blood and Steel

Dante vaulted into the cabin, pulling Claire and the infants up behind him as Miller slammed the heavy side hatch shut.
The VTOL leaped into the churning storm sky just as the entire volcanic island vanished beneath a cataclysmic explosion of steam, rock, and fire, collapsing into the Atlantic abyss.
Inside the pressurized, heated cabin, the violent shaking subsided into the steady, powerful thrum of turbine engines. Claire sank onto the troop bench, her hands trembling as she finally unclipped the tactical harness that bound her sons to her chest.
Leo blinked up at her, yawning softly. The violet light beneath his skin had receded entirely, replaced by the soft, warm flush of healthy, normal childhood. Beside him, his twin brother drifted off to sleep, tiny fists curled beneath his chin.
Dante knelt before them, his bruised and bloodied face softening into an expression Claire had never seen on the ruthless billionaire—an expression of raw, unvarnished peace. He gently stroked Leo’s cheek, then wrapped his arms around Claire, burying his face into the curve of her neck.
"It's over," Dante whispered, his body trembling against hers. "He's gone. The whole shadow empire... burned to ash."
"Not entirely," Captain Miller’s voice interrupted from the cockpit passage. He held a secure satellite tablet in his hands, his expression grim despite their escape.
Dante looked up, his jaw tightening. "What is it, Miller? If the Pentagon is cleared, who is left?"
Miller set the tablet on the bench between Dante and Claire.
The screen displayed a global tracking grid. Every single financial account, front company, private army, and subterranean holding previously owned by Salvatore Moretti had not vanished with the island's destruction.
Instead, the network had rerouted.
The funds, totaling over eighty billion dollars in untraceable black assets, along with encrypted command codes to twenty-four private maritime vessels scattered across the globe, had automatically transferred into a single, newly generated trust.
The name on the trust read:
*BENEFICIARY: LEO SALVATORE MORETTI.*
*CO-TRUSTEE: CLAIRE VANCE.*

"The old man knew he might die," Miller said quietly. "The syndicate wasn't destroyed, Dante. By your grandfather's last will, it just legally passed down to your son. The entire underworld is currently monitoring this signal. They are waiting for instructions from the new Don."
