Chapter 82 - The Violet Severance: Two Cradles on a Sinking Deck

The world went white.
A concussive shockwave of pure blinding light and deafening acoustic pressure roared through the bridge. Salvatore’s four operatives, reliant on light-amplification night-vision gear, screamed in agony as their retinas were scorched through their optics.
Claire didn’t blink. She had closed her eyes half a heartbeat before impact, navigating by muscle memory and the raw maternal compass screaming inside her skull.
She crossed the slick deck in three explosive strides. Her combat knife flashed in the darkness. The first operative holding Leo staggered backward, his hands instinctively clutching his throat as Claire swept his legs out from under him. As he fell, Claire caught Leo by the nape of his carrier harness with her left hand, tucking him instantly against her ribs alongside his twin brother.
The moment the two infants touched, the violet glow flared with apocalyptic brilliance.
A localized EMP burst outward from their tiny bodies. The bridge monitors exploded in a shower of sparks. Salvatore’s smiling face shattered into darkness as the feeds died. The auxiliary emergency lights blew out, plunging the listing deck into pitch-black chaos punctuated only by the eerie, pulsing purple halo radiating from the two children.
"Claire! Move!" Dante’s voice tore through the gloom.
Free of Vance’s grip, Dante had recovered a submachine gun from the deck. In the strobing violet light, he was a wraith—a billionaire stripped of civilization, moving with lethal syndicate ruthlessness. Three double-taps rang out in rapid succession, dropping the remaining disoriented operatives before their weapons could level.
"I have them both," Claire gasped, her breathing ragged as she adjusted the dual harnesses, securing both infants tightly to her chest armor. The cold seawater was already sloshing around their boots, rising past their shins with terrifying speed. "We have to get off this iron coffin!"
"Moon Pool Charlie," Dante commanded, grabbing her arm and pulling her toward the emergency access shaft. "The auxiliary hatch Vance mentioned—it’s the only pressure-sealed exit left above the flood line."
They slammed through the heavy watertight bulkhead just as the secondary scuttle charges detonated deep in the ship’s bowels. The entire aircraft carrier groaned like a dying mechanical beast, tilting violently at a fifteen-degree angle. Rivets sheared off the steel walls with the force of bullets.
Leo had stopped crying. In the suffocating darkness of the maintenance corridor, both babies were silent, staring up at Claire with unnerving, lucid eyes that shimmered with that terrifying violet hue. Their miniature heartbeats thudded against her sternum in unnatural, synchronized rhythm, accelerating until the iron walls around them began to vibrate in sympathy.
"Dante," Claire choked out, struggling against the sudden, crushing weight of the psychic feedback echoing from her sons. "The babies... they’re linking to the carrier’s telemetry. They’re accelerating the scuttle sequence!"
Dante wrenched open the hatch to the moon pool. "Then we don't walk. We drop."

Below them, illuminated by glowing red emergency markers, was not a submersible, but a specialized high-speed Black Ghost interceptor craft bobbing violently in the surging, trapped water of the internal dock. And standing on the catwalk directly above the craft was a figure holding an RPG launcher aimed straight at their platform.
