Chapter 38 - The Mother’s Wrath: She Commandeered the Warship with a Bare Knife and Her Son in Her Carrier

The storm above had reached hurricane strength, whipping the Atlantic into forty-foot waves that crashed against the angular, radar-absorbent hull of the USS *Titan*.

The stealth supercarrier was a marvel of dark engineering—an automated, nuclear-powered leviathan designed to coordinate nationwide military responses in the event of total government collapse. But tonight, it served as the mobile fortress of Eleanor Vance.

A sudden, violent explosion rocked the *Titan's* lower auxiliary deck as the *Acheron* surfaced directly alongside its blind spot, ramming its reinforced titanium bow through the carrier’s lower aircraft bay doors.

Hydraulic ramps slammed down.

Claire charged through the smoke and fire, moving with the precision of a hurricane. Strapped securely to her chest in a custom-engineered, bulletproof tactical harness was baby Leo, fitted with noise-canceling infant headgear. The boy was calm, his tiny hands resting against the Kevlar plate covering her heart, as if he knew his mother was clearing the path.

In her right hand, Claire held a suppressed submachine gun; in her left, an eight-inch combat knife.

"Clear!" she barked, firing three controlled bursts that took down three Leviathan security operators attempting to set up a heavy machine-gun nest in the hangar bay.

Behind her, Dante was a force of pure destruction. Flanked by eight of his top syndicate enforcers armed with heavy assault rifles, the mafia boss advanced through the burning wreckage of the hangar, executing hostiles with brutal, unflinching efficiency. He moved like an avenging demon, his focus never wavering from the woman and child leading the assault.

"Bridge access is through the central elevator shaft!" Dante shouted over the roar of alarms and secondary detonations. "They've locked the blast doors!"

"Then we don't use the doors," Claire replied, her voice cold and merciless.

She vaulted over the shattered chassis of an automated drone, reaching the primary hydraulic control lines for the flight deck elevator. She plunged her knife into the high-pressure release valve, severing the cables with a blinding flash of sparks.

The three-ton steel lift groaned, dropping twenty feet before locking onto the emergency teeth, creating a direct opening into the carrier’s primary command bridge.

Claire leaped down through the hatch, landing gracefully on the polished deck of the bridge.

The command center was illuminated in violent crimson combat lighting. Dozens of automated computer terminals were scrolling through the final launch sequences of the Leviathan network. And standing in the center of the raised observation platform, flanked by four elite bodyguards in black ceremonial armor, stood an older woman dressed in an immaculate white naval uniform.

Eleanor Vance turned slowly, a chilling, maternal smile spreading across her aristocratic, unlined face.

"Claire," Eleanor said softly, her melodic voice cutting through the wail of the alarms. "Look how magnificent you look. A true warrior. A true Ellison. And you brought me my grandson."

Leo shifted in the carrier, letting out a small whimper.

May you like

Claire leveled her weapon directly at the woman who had stolen her life, her memories, and her child. "He is not your grandson, Eleanor. He is my son. And your war ends tonight."
