Chapter 73 - The Bunker of Shattered Glass: He Pinned the Syndicate General Against the Melting Armored Glass

The blackout was not an accident; it was a deployment window.
From the end of the long concrete corridor, the low, hydraulic whine of an armored breaching ram echoed through the foundations of the safehouse. Dante didn't flinch. He backed into the nursery, kicking the heavy steel door half-shut to shield the cradle with the thickest slab of titanium alloy in the hemisphere.
"They're inside the outer gate," Dante said, his voice flat, emotionless—the tone of a man who had calculated the lives of his enemies in fractions of seconds. "Heavy suppressed carbines. Four-man fireteams. Black-budget contractors. They didn't come to negotiate, Claire."
Valeria let out a ragged, wheezing laugh from her position on the floor, her teeth stained with blood. "General Vance... our uncle... he won't stop until he has the core keys. He doesn't need both boys alive. He only needs one brain stem intact to interface with the orbital platform."
Claire knelt by the crib, her hands resting over the two sleeping infants. She looked up at Dante, her eyes burning with a cold, terrifying ferocity that matched his own. "How long can this door hold?"
"Against standard charges? Ten minutes," Dante replied, ejecting his magazine, checking the brass, and slamming it home with the heel of his palm. "Against thermite lances? Three. We don't wait for them to burn through."
He crossed the room in three strides, reaching beneath the hidden oak floorboards beneath the cradle. With a dull metallic clatter, he pulled out an unmarked carbon-fiber case, flipping the latches. Inside lay two customized submachine guns with integrated suppressors, four spare high-capacity magazines, and two tactical vests layered with ceramic-titanium weave.
"Put it on," Dante commanded Claire, throwing one vest across the room.
"What about her?" Claire gestured toward Valeria, whose breathing was growing shallower by the second.
"She made her choices," Dante snarled coldly.
"She kept my son alive!" Claire shouted, her voice cutting through Dante’s icy demeanor like a scalpel. "She brought him back to me, Dante! If she dies, we lose the operational intelligence on who authorized the orbital strike over the Chesapeake!"
Before Dante could answer, the outer reinforced window facing the river exploded in a hail of diamond-dust fragments.
A flashbang detonated against the blast-curtain with an ear-splitting crack. A shadow dropped through the opening, dressed in full stealth tactical kit, an assault rifle raised directly toward the mahogany crib.
Dante didn't fire. He launched his entire six-foot-two, armored frame across the nursery floor, tackling the operative before his boots fully touched the carpet.
The two men slammed against the far wall. Dante drove his forearm under the intruder's chin, spinning him around and smashing his helmeted head straight into the thick armored glass of the weapon cabinet until the reinforced pane splintered into spiderwebs.
"Who sent you?" Dante growled into the operative's ear, his combat knife buried two inches into the man's shoulder joint, pinning him against the wall.
The soldier gargled through his comm-mask, blood foaming behind the visor. "The... the Admiral says... family always comes home to die."

Dante twisted the blade a quarter-turn, his eyes pitch-black. "Tell him the Morettis don't attend funerals. We host them."
