Chapter 100 - The Sovereign Horizon: A Voice From the Deepest Grave

Twelve hours later.

The submersible surfaced through calm, gray waters under the pale light of an overcast dawn. They were drifting sixty miles off the rugged, fog-shrouded coast of Newfoundland, far beyond the radar envelopes of the syndicate's hunting fleets.

Miller had managed to restore emergency power, pumping fresh sea air into the cramped cabin. He sat by the dead communications console, his head resting against his hands in exhausted silence.

Claire sat on the metal bench, feeding the two infants with rations salvaged from the emergency medical kit. Leo drank hungrily, his tiny hands clutching Claire’s thumb with incredible strength. The violet light in his eyes had retreated completely, leaving behind the warm, innocent gaze of a child who knew only his mother's love.

"We made it, Claire," Miller said quietly, his voice cracked with exhaustion and grief. "The flagship went down. The secondary fleet scattered into international waters. The syndicate's command structure is decapitated. Dante... Dante saved us all."

Claire stared out through the salt-crusted viewport at the endless horizon. A part of her was buried at the bottom of the ocean, entombed in the iron grave of the *Tartarus*. But her hands were steady. She would raise these boys. She would build an army of her own. She would make sure that no monster ever reached for them again.

Suddenly, the dead communications console let out a loud, piercing static pop.

Miller jumped to his feet, drawing his weapon. "That’s impossible. Our main antenna was sheared off during the launch!"

The speaker hissed. Static rolled through the small cabin, sharp and rhythmic.

Then, the static coalesced into an audio carrier wave. An automated ping echoed across the frequency, followed by the heavy, distinct sound of a man drawing a ragged, labored breath through an oxygen mask.

Claire’s heart stopped. She surged toward the console, her hands shaking uncontrollably as she grabbed the microphone. "Dante?!"

The voice that came through the speaker was not Dante's.

It was a deep, cold, aristocratic voice—speaking with an ancient, cultured accent that Claire had never heard in her life, yet carrying a cadence that resonated in the very marrow of her bones.

"He fought bravely, Claire Sterling," the man said smoothly, the signal coming from an impossible depth beneath the oceanic trench. "A true Moretti to the very last breath. But you should know... Dante was never the patriarch's grandson."

Claire’s blood turned to ice. "Who is this?!"

"I am the man who commissioned your creation thirty years ago," the voice whispered, and behind the transmission, the chilling sound of a third infant crying in an echo chamber sent absolute dread screaming through Claire’s mind. "And Dante Moretti is currently kneeling in chains before my throne. Bring me the twins... or I will send you his heart in an iron box."
