Chapter 37 - The Billionaire's Retribution: Dante Moretti Unleashed the Shadow Army He Hid from the World

The gunshot echoed through the steel corridors of the *Acheron*, a definitive, final punctuation mark to twenty years of deception.
Claire lowered the smoking weapon, not even looking at Webb’s slumped form as two crewmen immediately stepped forward to drag the traitor’s body out of the medical bay. Her heart was beating with a terrifying, crystal-clear focus.
She was no longer just an Admiral fighting a corrupt shadow network. She was a mother who had just reclaimed her stolen child, and the entire world was about to burn for what it had done to her family.
Dante stepped forward, pulling her into his chest. His arms wrapped around her with an unyielding, protective ferocity, his face buried in her hair. For a long moment, neither of them spoke. They just stood there, breathing together, united by a bloodline that had been forged in secrecy and baptized in fire.
"We don't run anymore," Dante growled against her skin, his voice carrying the terrifying promise of total war.
"No," Claire agreed, stepping back and looking into his dark, dangerous eyes. "We go on the offensive. But Eleanor holds the automated fleet. She controls the coastal radar, the Pentagon’s shadow division, and the automated strike silos. We are one submarine."
"Then it's time to show Eleanor Vance what happens when she threatens the Moretti family," Dante said, a cold, predatory smile spreading across his blood-stained face.
He walked over to the submarine’s communications console, ripping the secure headset from its mount. He reached inside his ruined coat, pulling out a heavy platinum signet ring engraved with a coiled viper and an anchor—the ancestral seal of the Moretti founding syndicate.
Dante slotted the ring into the terminal’s auxiliary data port, punching in a nineteen-digit alphanumeric sequence from memory.
"What is that?" Claire asked, watching the monitor light up with encrypted nodes across five continents.
"My family didn't just hoard money, Claire," Dante said, his voice echoing through the command center. "For seventy years, the Moretti family ran the black logistics for every major government on Earth. We built their secret bases. We transported their off-the-books hardware. We own the private military contractors, the offshore container fleets, the deep-sea salvage syndicates, and the mercenary networks that the Pentagon calls when they want someone erased from history."
On the tactical display, hundreds of red dots began to flash across the map of the North Atlantic.
Cargo ships suddenly altered course. Private security vessels armed with heavy naval guns turned toward the Virginia coast. Thousands of off-grid communications networks came alive simultaneously, acknowledging a single, priority-one directive:
*OMERTÀ ZERO INITIATED. PROTECT THE HEIR. DESTROY THE ARCHITECT.*
"I have three private army battalions mobilizing from South America," Dante stated, his tone devoid of mercy. "A fleet of sixteen converted armed freighters closing on the Chesapeake. And four hundred ex-tier-one operators boarding high-speed interceptors out of the Bahamas. Eleanor thinks she has an army because she has badges and uniforms. I have an army of men who live in the dark and answer only to my blood."
The submarine's executive officer stepped onto the bridge, his face pale as he saluted Claire. "Commander! Incoming acoustic signature on the sonar. Multiple surface contacts converging on the mouth of the bay. It’s Eleanor's command carrier—the USS *Titan*, a prototype stealth platform operating out of the Wallops Island black facility."
Claire turned toward the tactical holotable, her eyes blazing with absolute military dominance. She reached down, picking up her service cap from the console, placing it firmly on her head.

"Sound general quarters," Admiral Claire Ellison commanded, her voice ringing through every speaker of the warship. "Rig the *Acheron* for combat dive. Dante, tell your private fleet to box the *Titan* in from the eastern sector. We're taking Eleanor Vance's flagship from beneath the waves."
