Chapter 8 - The Legal Tectonic Plates

The blue folder sat under the spotlight like an unexploded bomb.

Dr. Vance frowned, stepping back slightly as Marcos opened the cover. Inside lay a dense stack of official documents, legal seals, certified bank statements, and court-stamped decrees yellowed by time.

"Thirteen years ago," Marcos announced, his voice echoing off the vaulted ceiling, "when our father walked out on us, he didn't just leave a family. He engaged in corporate and financial fraud to strip our mother of her rightful shares in the tech startup they built together in their college garage—the very patent portfolio that funded his current empire."

Álvaro let out a choked sound, lunging forward down the aisle. "Security! Stop him! This is slander! He's a minor, he’s unstable!"

Two burly security guards stepped forward, but Dr. Vance raised a hand, stopping them dead in their tracks. "Let the boy speak, Mr. Miller."

Marcos held up the first document, the camera above zooming in so that every word was legible on the massive screen.

"This is the original partnership agreement," Marcos read clearly, "signed and notarized on October 14, 2010. And underneath it... is the forged signature of transfer that Álvaro Miller used to declare bankruptcy on our household while siphoning three million dollars into offshore accounts under a false identity."

A collective gasp swept through the entire auditorium. Several board members stood up from their chairs, staring at Álvaro with sudden, biting disgust. The Miller family name—the very cornerstone of regional philanthropy and high-tech innovation—was disintegrating in real-time on a public livestream.

Verónica burst into tears, grabbing her son's arm. "Hugo, come away from here. Your father is insane."

"Stay back, Verónica," Hugo said, shaking her hand off. The boy looked at the screen, then at his father, his face hardening into a mask of pure betrayal. "Is it true? Did you steal everything from them?"

Álvaro stood paralyzed in the aisle, his face slick with cold sweat, his impeccably tailored suit suddenly feeling like a straitjacket. The lie that had sustained his luxurious life for thirteen years had just been shredded by a seventeen-year-old boy armed with nothing more than truth and a blue folder.
