Chapter 64 - The Mother's Phantom Echo

Mateo and Marcos stood unmoved between the fractured Vance dynasty and the armed mercenaries. The operatives hesitated, their rifle barrels drifting uncertainly between Aurelius, Julian, and the two young boys whose faces were currently plastered across every news station on Earth.

"Don't listen to him," Aurelius commanded the guards, pointing a trembling finger at the twins. "Eliminate them. If the blueprint is public, their minds are the only things that can calibrate it. Kill the boys, and Apex retains the monopoly by default!"

None of the guards moved.

The lead operative slowly lowered his weapon. "The transfer failed, Mr. Vance. Apex credit accounts were declared non-negotiable five minutes ago. Our retainer bounced. We're taking the evacuation pod."

"Traitors!" Aurelius shrieked, lunging toward one of the guards' sidearms.

Before he could reach it, the master terminal behind Mateo flared with a blinding column of pure white light. The physical holographic projector, overclocked by the Blue Folder's deepest recursive loops, coalesced into a full-scale volumetric projection of a woman standing in an ethereal research coat.

Elena Vance.

The room froze. Even Julian dropped his briefcase, the encrypted bonds scattering across the grated deck.

"Aurelius," the phantom echo spoke. It was not a pre-recorded monologue; it was an adaptive neural reconstruction synthesized from fifteen years of Elena's preserved laboratory logs, triggered only when the Spire reached complete system failure. "I told you that mathematics does not negotiate with arrogance."

"Elena..." Aurelius stammered, stepping back, his eyes wide with an almost superstitious dread. "You... you died in the Arctic breach..."

"My body did," the digital projection replied with an infinite, serene sorrow. "Because you cut the lifelines to preserve the excavation data. But I left my mind in the equations you were too blind to understand. You sought an ignition key to become a god, Aurelius. But the key was never meant to unlock power. It was meant to lock the door."

She turned her luminous gaze toward the twins. The digital phantom softened, a faint, proud smile gracing her lips.

"Mateo. Marcos. You solved the final layer."

"We did, Mother," Marcos said quietly, his stoic voice trembling for the first time. "We brought the Blue Folder."

"Then finish it," Elena’s projection instructed. "The Genesis Spire must not remain. Erase the harmonic core. Return the mantle to silence."
