Chapter 58 - Bloodline Convergence

The entire subterranean chamber shook violently as the crystal pillars began to reverse their polarity. The ancient crimson glow that had threatened to engulf the global network shifted into an immaculate, piercing sapphire blue.

"No! Stop this!" Aurelius screamed, his face flushed with uncontrollable rage. He lunged forward, drawing a concealed ceramic pistol from beneath his coat—a weapon immune to magnetic fields. "Four generations! A hundred years of planning! I will not let two ungrateful brats ruin the ascension of House Miller!"

He aimed the barrel directly at Mateo’s forehead.

Mateo didn't even flinch. He didn't even look up from the console.

*CRACK!*

A sudden, desperate figure hurled himself across the magnetized floor, crashing into Aurelius’s legs.

It was Álvaro.

The deadbeat father, driven by sheer animal panic and the desperate, pathetic instinct of a coward realizing his entire life was a lie, clung to Aurelius’s ankles with a frantic scream. "You ruined me! You made me into this! If I'm going down, you're coming with me, old man!"

The ceramic gun fired, the bullet ricocheting off the reinforced quartz ceiling and shattering a high-voltage conduit above. A shower of white-hot electrical sparks rained down over Aurelius and Álvaro, sending both men sprawling onto the vibrating deck.

"Get off me, you worthless parasite!" Aurelius snarled, kicking Álvaro violently in the ribs, but the deadbeat held on with the feral grip of a drowning man.

"Marcos. Phase two," Mateo said calmly, ignoring the squabbling generational failures rolling on the floor behind him.

"Engaging phase two," Marcos confirmed, striking the final execution sequence. "Purging the Miller Genesis Network. Rerouting all subterranean energy nodes to global civil power grids. Decoupling the tectonic anchors."

The holographic globe above the platform began turning blue, country by country, node by node. The terrifying threat of global seismic domination was evaporating before their very eyes.
