Chapter 25 - The Algorithm of Truth

Inside the Hudson Valley bunker, the glow of six monitors illuminated Marcos and Mateo’s focused faces. The twins had stripped down to their white undershirts, their keyboards clicking in a rapid, synchronized rhythm that sounded like machine-gun fire.

Lucía watched from the doorway, holding two mugs of hot tea, her heart aching with both pride and sorrow. No thirteen-year-old boys should have had to bear the weight of such warfare. Yet there they were, wielding law and mathematics like twin blades.

"I found the intrusion point," Mateo announced, slamming an enter key. "Look at this, Marcos."

Marcos wheeled his chair over. On Mateo’s screen was a complex network topology diagram tracing a backchannel data transfer.

"The federal server Julian used to backdate the synthetic biological filing wasn't in Washington," Mateo explained, zooming into the IP logs. "It was routed through an obsolete Department of Defense terminal at an abandoned naval shipyard in Philadelphia. Julian used an old military contractor clearance that expired in 2018."

"And here’s the kill shot," Marcos added, pulling up the source code of the document Julian had thrown at their mother’s feet. "Julian’s team used an optical character recognition software to lift my handwriting from the stolen 2017 notebook. But whoever digitized the file made a rookie mistake."

"The font kerning?" Arthur asked, leaning over their shoulders with keen interest.

"Better," Marcos smiled, a glint of triumph dancing in his eyes. "The ink composition. When we were eight, we couldn't afford expensive pens. Mama bought us cheap, non-standard gel pens from a discount wholesale market in Chinatown. That ink contains a synthetic polymer dye that wasn't manufactured anywhere on Earth until November 2016!"

Lucía let out a gasping laugh, putting a hand over her mouth. "The ink didn't even exist in 2009!"

"Exactly," Mateo grinned fiercely. "Julian Vance claims grandfather wrote these equations in 2009 with chemical ink that wasn't synthesized until seven years later. It is forensic, indisputable proof of document forgery at a federal level."

"We don't just clear our names with this," Marcos said, turning to Arthur. "We trigger the automatic anti-fraud provisions of the Federal False Claims Act. Julian Vance, his legal firm, and Vance Dynamics will face immediate statutory asset freezes."

"And what about Álvaro?" Lucía asked, her voice hardening.

Marcos looked at his mother. "Father signed a sworn federal affidavit under penalty of perjury corroborating Julian's forged timeline. He put his signature on a treasonous fabrication."

Mateo clicked his mouse, sending the encrypted dossier to the Department of Justice, the International Bio-Ethics Tribunal, and every major news desk in the hemisphere.

"The countdown is running," Mateo said softly. "The emergency hearing begins in four hours."
