Chapter 60 - The Ignition of the Abyssal Core

The abyssal trench beneath the reinforced bedrock began to glow with a sickly, bioluminescent violet. It was not the crisp cerulean of the Blue Folder’s quantum matrices, nor the sharp gold of Aurelius Vance’s imperial displays. It was an ancient, predatory wavelength—a subterranean frequency that vibrated directly against the marrow of their bones.
"An ignition key," Mateo repeated, his voice dangerously even as the tremors rattled the reinforced polycarbonate floor beneath their boots. "You spent four decades siphoning global wealth under the guise of clean kinetic energy, yet you didn't even know what you were excavating."
Aurelius laughed, a dry, rasping sound that rattled in his throat like stones in an empty urn. Blood trickled from his split lip, but his eyes burned with fanatical ecstasy. "Ignorant child! We unearthed the bedrock anomalies in ninety-eight! Your mother was the only mind capable of reconciling the harmonic decay. She called it a catastrophe in waiting. I called it apotheosis! When the subterranean geothermic pulse fires through the Genesis conduit, every electromagnetic grid on Earth will bow to this Spire! It doesn't just transmit power—it commands the planetary mantle!"
"It doesn't command it," Marcos interrupted, his fingers moving across his twin holographic decks in a terrifying blur of velocity. "It fractures it. Mother’s notes in sub-directory seven prove the tectonic balance here isn't molten basalt. It’s an unstable isotopic stratum. If this Spire fires at peak resonance, it won't establish a global energy monopoly, Aurelius. It will trigger a runaway mantle displacement. The entire continental shelf will collapse within forty-eight hours."
Álvaro, clutching his fractured ribs on the cold metal grating, looked up through blood-caked eyelashes. His breath came in ragged, wheezing gasps. "Father... is this... what you were chasing? Not the family legacy... but planetary annihilation?"
Aurelius didn't even look at his fallen son. His gaze remained transfixed on the pulsing abyss below. "Legacy is for mortals, Álvaro. You were always too weak to understand that power must be absolute, or it is nothing at all. If the world cannot be ruled by the house of Vance, let it burn in the crucible!"
"System initialization at eighty-two percent," the automated voice of the Genesis Spire intoned, mechanical and indifferent to the horror unfolding within its heart. "Sub-mantle resonance reaching critical threshold. Diverting secondary coolant to primary core."
"Mateo," Marcos snapped, his stoic facade cracking with pure, focused adrenaline. "The inverted harmonic protocol we prepared for the cloud citadel won't hold this frequency. The wave amplitude is exponentially compounding."

Mateo didn't panic. His youthful face took on an icy clarity that defied his eleven years. He plunged his hand back into his small, worn backpack and withdrew the physical core of the Blue Folder—a reinforced titanium flash-drive embedded with Elena’s original cryptographic cipher.
"We don't invert the wave," Mateo declared, slamming the drive into the master pedestal. "We drown it."
