Chapter 62 - The Deadbeat's Redemption Protocol

A soft, clear chime cut through the howling sirens and groaning titanium. From the console’s central audio emitters, a voice echoed—warm, brilliant, and untouched by the madness of the Vance dynasty.
"To my boys," Elena’s recorded voice resonated, rich with maternal warmth, filling the cavernous sub-surface vault. "If you are hearing this, it means the world tried to take what wasn't theirs. Remember: the mind that constructs the cage is never the mind that can unlock it. The key is in the silence between the beats."
The console flashed from violent crimson to a steady, tentative amber.
"Voice authentication confirmed: Elena Vance," the automated system declared. "Primary override menu accessible. Bio-metric confirmation required to vent subterranean pressure."
Aurelius, still pinned beneath Álvaro, let out a feral scream. With surprising savagery for an octogenarian, he drew a concealed ceramic blade from the tip of his cane and drove it deep into Álvaro’s forearm. Álvaro gasped in agony, his grip slackening for a fraction of a second, but instead of retreating, Álvaro rolled over and seized Aurelius’s wrist, twisting it until the blade clattered harmlessly into the dark trench below.
"The bio-metric reader," Álvaro choked out, his vision swimming with gray spots as shock began to settle in. "The Vance bloodline... it doesn't just take boys' prints. The security protocol requires an adult lineage signature to authorize a Class-One emergency dump! You boys are minors—the system’s legal matrix will reject you!"
Mateo glanced at the prompt on the screen. Sure enough, the red text flared: *Emergency Venting Requires Direct Tier-One Lineage Administrator (Age > 25).*
"He’s right," Marcos said, teeth clenched. "The legal shell of Apex Dynamics was registered under corporate adult bylaws. If an adult Vance doesn't verify the override within twenty seconds, the safety seals will automatically lock to prevent economic loss!"
Aurelius smiled through the blood on his teeth. "You see? The system protects itself! You cannot bypass corporate law, even at the bottom of the ocean! You will drown in your own mother's brilliance!"
Álvaro dragged himself up, crawling on his elbows and knees across the trembling floor toward the glowing red bio-scanner.
"Álvaro," Mateo whispered, the word escaping his lips before he could stop it.
"I never gave you anything," Álvaro whispered, reaching an arm slick with blood toward the glass scanner. "I took your mother’s work... I tried to steal your glory at the academic trials... I was a coward who ran from the only things that mattered."
He slammed his bleeding palm down onto the scanner.

"Lineage recognized: Álvaro Vance-Miller," the computer chimed. "Confirm manual core venting?"
"Confirm," Álvaro screamed. "Confirm, you bastard!"
