Chapter 39 - The Safehouse in Luxembourg

Three days later.
The rain over the Old Quarter of Luxembourg City was relentless, washing the cobblestones clean of everything except shadows. Inside a nondescript, second-floor apartment above an antique bookshop, the blinds were drawn tight.
Vanessa stood at the kitchen island, expertly stitching the jagged cut on Dominique’s thigh with medical silk and a curved suture needle. Dominique sat rigidly on the stool, biting down on a leather belt, sweat beading on her forehead, refusing to make a sound.
On the other side of the room, Claire had the titanium drive plugged into an encrypted, air-gapped terminal.
On the screen, hundreds of gigabytes of decrypted financial ledgers, hidden offshore holding companies, and political blackmail dossiers were scrolling past in endless streams of glowing green text.
"It’s all here," Claire murmured, scrolling through the executive directories. "The Syndicate isn't just a criminal cartel. It’s a coalition of twelve global banking houses. They orchestrated the hostile takeover of Whitmore Global twenty years ago. They forced Father into debt, framed him for fraud, and when Mother found out the truth, they ordered the hit."
"Who gave the order?" Vanessa asked, tying off the final suture and cutting the thread with surgical shears.
Dominique spat the leather belt out of her mouth, breathing heavily. "It wasn't Evelyn. Evelyn was just their field manager. The man who signed our mother's death warrant... the man who created me in that laboratory in Marseille... goes by the name of 'The Chairman.'"
"Does he have a real name?" Claire asked, turning from the monitor.
"Arthur Vance," Dominique said, her voice dropping into a deadly, flat tone. "The current President of the International Settlement Bank in Geneva. He was our father’s closest friend. He was our godfather."
Vanessa’s hands gripped the edge of the kitchen counter until her knuckles turned translucent. "Uncle Arthur? He spoke at Father’s funeral. He held my hand while I cried."
"He was also the man who approved my termination orders when the bunker collapsed," Dominique said coldly, pulling her pant leg down over the fresh stitches. "He doesn't know I survived. He thinks all three of us died on that train in the Rhine Gorge."
Claire closed the laptop with a definitive, hollow snap.
"Then that is our greatest weapon," Claire said. "The world thinks the Whitmore bloodline is officially extinct. They think the secret died with us."
"So what's the play?" Dominique asked, leaning back against the wall, her emerald eyes narrowing with that familiar, dangerous spark. "We take the drive to Interpol?"
"Interpol is owned by Vance," Vanessa replied, a dark, venomous smile slowly returning to her face. "No. We do this the Whitmore way."
Claire stepped forward, standing between her two identical sisters. For the first time in twenty-four years, the three faces were united, united not by blood alone, but by a shared, burning vow of vengeance.
"Tomorrow night is the annual Solstice Gala at Vance’s private estate in Lake Como," Claire said. "Three hundred billionaires. The entire Syndicate high board in one room."
"Three sisters," Vanessa added, her voice dripping with lethal elegance.

"And one very public execution," Dominique finished.
