Chapter 11 - THE WAITING GAME

The waiting room was a silent torture chamber.
Marcus paced the floor. He had discarded his tuxedo jacket hours ago. His white shirt was stained with Chloe’s blood from when he had lifted her off the marble floor.
He thought about the first time he had met her.
She was reading a book in a coffee shop, oblivious to the wealth and power that defined his world. She hadn't cared about his bank accounts or his corporate titles. She had just looked at him with those warm, hazel eyes and asked if he wanted to share her table.
She was his light. She was the only thing that made his cold, corporate life bearable.
And a spoiled, entitled heiress had nearly taken it all away.
Marcus pulled out his phone. He dialed his Chief Operations Officer.
"Initiate the Sterling protocol," Marcus commanded into the receiver.

"Sir? At this hour? The markets open in—"
"I don't care," Marcus growled. "I want the Sterling Global Trust utterly dismantled by sunrise. Liquidate their secondary debt. Dump their bonds. Ruin them."
