Chapter 10 - THE VERDICT OF BLOOD
The sterile, bright lights of the emergency surgical wing were blinding.
Dr. Evans, the chief of obstetrics, stood before Marcus with a grave expression.
"Mr. Vance, your wife suffered significant blunt force trauma to her shoulder, but her primary concern is the baby. The impact caused a minor placental abruption. Fetal distress is escalating."
Marcus felt the air leave his lungs. "What does that mean?"

"It means we cannot wait," Dr. Evans said firmly. "We have to perform an emergency Cesarean section right now. We are prepping the OR."
"Do whatever it takes to save them both," Marcus ordered, his voice cracking for the first time in his adult life. "Bring them back to me, Doctor."
