Chapter 12 - The Rebirth of the Estate

Six months after the trial, spring blossomed across the rolling hills of the Vance estate.
The grand gardens were bursting with blooming white peonies, purple hydrangeas, and sweet-scented lilacs.
Marcus had stepped down from the day-to-day operations of the logistics firm, appointing a trusted executive committee so he could dedicate his time to Leo and philanthropic ventures.
Elena had accepted a full-time executive director position for the newly expanded Morales-Vance Pediatric Center.
Every afternoon, Elena and Marcus would walk through the estate grounds with Leo, who was now taking his first wobbly, confident steps across the manicured grass.
Leo would giggle, holding Marcus’s thumb with one hand and Elena’s fingers with the other.
One warm Saturday afternoon, Marcus paused beside the grand stone fountain in the center of the courtyard.
He looked at Elena, whose hair was catching the golden rays of the setting sun.
"Elena," Marcus began, his voice filled with a tenderness he had never shown to anyone before.
"A year ago, this house was an empty prison filled with secrets and fear.
You brought life, truth, and warmth back into these walls."
Elena looked up at him, her dark eyes shining with gentle affection.
"You gave me a chance to honor my father's work, Marcus.
You gave Leo a father who would tear down an empire to keep him safe."
Marcus reached out, gently cupping her cheek with his warm hand.

"I don't want you to just be Leo's guardian, Elena," Marcus whispered.
"I want you to be part of our lives forever."
