Chapter 11 - The Prison Confession of Victoria

In the federal women's correctional facility in Danbury, Connecticut, Victoria Sterling sat behind reinforced glass.
Her tailored gray suits had been replaced by standard coarse khaki scrubs.
Her blonde hair was pulled into a messy ponytail, and her face was pale, lined with stress and sleeplessness.
The heavy security door opened, and Marcus walked into the visitor booth, dressed in a sharp navy suit.
Victoria grabbed the intercom phone with trembling, desperate hands.
"Marcus! You came!" she sobbed into the receiver.
"Please, you have to talk to the prosecutor!
My father had a stroke in holding yesterday!
They are talking about fifteen years in prison for me!
I won't survive in this place, Marcus!"
Marcus picked up the receiver, his expression carved out of dark, unbreakable stone.
"I didn't come to negotiate, Victoria.
I came to deliver the finalized certificate of divorce."
Marcus pressed the official court document against the glass partition.
Victoria stared at the red seal, her breath hitching in her throat.
"You took my son... you took my money... you took everything I had..." she wept hysterically.
"You gave those things away the second you raised your foot against an innocent baby, Victoria," Marcus said in a low, chilling whisper.
"You chose greed over motherhood.

Now you will live with the consequences in silence."
Marcus hung up the receiver, turned around, and walked through the security doors without looking back once.
