Chapter 30 - The Geneva Protocol

The private aviation hangar at Geneva International Airport was quiet, cold, and bathed in the sterile blue glow of high-intensity overhead sodium lights. A sleek, matte-black Gulfstream G650 with unbranded transponder markings sat idling on the tarmac, its twin jet engines whining against the damp European night air.

Viktor Vance walked briskly across the polished concrete floor, his heavy wool overcoat snapping behind him in the downdraft of the wingtips. Two armed security operatives in unmarked tactical gear flanked him closely, carrying secure titanium cases containing the physical master cryptographic keys to the international sovereign debt portfolio.

As Viktor reached the bottom of the aircraft's retractable boarding stairs, his secure satellite phone vibrated sharply in his pocket. He paused, pulling the encrypted device out and glancing at the secure display screen.

It was an encrypted data packet routed directly from a high-level intelligence contact inside the North American financial sector, confirming that Marcus Vance had been captured and the domestic ledger completely seized by federal authorities.

A cold, thin smile touched Viktor’s lips. He didn't look angry; if anything, he looked amused. Arthur had been a dinosaur, relying on crude domestic corruption and heavy-handed intimidation. Viktor operated on a completely different plane of existence—one where sovereign nations, digital currencies, and global logistics networks were simply pieces on a chessboard waiting to be manipulated.

He pressed the speaker button to reply to his intelligence handler in Washington.

"Let the authorities have the scraps in Denver," Viktor said smoothly, his voice echoing quietly across the drafty hangar. "They caught a caged animal and a flunky. They have no idea what’s waiting for them on the global stage."

"And the Vance family inheritance, Director Vance?" the handler's voice crackled cautiously through the secure frequency.

Viktor turned, looking out past the open hangar doors toward the dark, sprawling expanse of the European skyline where the lights of international financial institutions twinkled like distant stars.

"Inheritances are for people who wait for things to be handed down," Viktor replied, his eyes narrowing with icy ambition as he stepped up into the aircraft cabin and pulled the heavy hatch shut behind him. "We are going to take the rest of the world."

The cabin door sealed shut with a heavy, pneumatic click. Moments later, the jet surged forward down the runway, lifting gracefully into the dark stormy night, carrying the next chapter of the Vance war into the global unknown.
