Chapter 43 - Midnight in Shinjuku

The midnight air over Shinjuku hummed with the electric pulse of millions of neon lights. Inside the subterranean server room of Tanaka Holdings, Natalie Vance—who had arrived in Tokyo via a private charter earlier that evening—sat before a high-security decryption terminal, her fingers flying across the keys with surgical speed.

"I’m past their firewall," Natalie reported over the encrypted comms link to Claire and Arthur, who were stationed in a surveillance vehicle three blocks away. "Tanaka isn't just blocking our zoning permits. He’s orchestrating a massive cyber-attack designed to wipe our logistics databases and frame Whitmore Asia for industrial espionage."

"Lock down our mainframes and isolate their backdoor protocol," Claire’s voice crackled back through the earpiece, steady and commanding. "Arthur and I are breaching the executive penthouse floor."

Within minutes, Claire and Arthur bypassed the building’s biometric security protocols, silently ascending the private freight elevator to the seventieth-floor executive suite.

The heavy titanium double doors yielded instantly to Arthur’s digital bypass decoder. They stepped into the dimly lit penthouse just as Tanaka turned around from his panoramic window, flanked by two armed private security mercenaries.

Tanaka’s eyes widened in shock, but he quickly recovered, gesturing to his guards. "Kill them."

Before the mercenaries could raise their weapons, Arthur moved with terrifying, explosive speed. He thrust his titanium cane forward, striking the first guard squarely in the sternum with bone-crushing force. As the second guard lunged, Claire sidestepped the thrust with effortless precision, delivering a devastating palm strike to his elbow joint that sent his weapon clattering across the marble floor.

Within fifteen seconds, both operatives were neutralized.
