Chapter 8 - Cole Was Not Just Laughing
Cole’s laughter at dinner became harder to dismiss after investigators searched his phone.
He had joked with Vanessa about Lily calling Rachel “Mommy” after seeing an old photograph.
Then one message changed everything.
VANESSA: If Rachel shows up before filing, everything gets delayed.
COLE: Then don’t let her get near Daniel.
Another:
COLE: Kid notices too much.
Vanessa replied with a laughing emoji.
Cole later claimed it was dark humor.
Maybe.
But he had also created the email filters.
He knew Rachel was trying to communicate.
He helped turn a family dispute into engineered silence.
