Chapter 2 - The Projector of Sins

The ballroom turned colder than an Arctic winter as Willa stood fearlessly behind the illuminated podium.
Preston's throat bobbed, and his confident posture momentarily cracked under the weight of her piercing stare.
"Willa, step down right now," Preston barked, attempting to maintain his authoritarian control over the room.
"This is an adult conversation, and you are humiliating yourself in front of my mother's guests," he hissed.
Sabrina stepped closer to Preston, placing a comforting hand on his bicep while glaring daggers at my little girl.
"Darling, let the security guards escort her out, she's clearly being coached by her bitter mother," Sabrina purred smoothly.
Willa didn't flinch or look at Sabrina; she simply turned toward the grand audiovisual console beside the stage.
The tech operator, a young college student hired for the night, looked confused and hesitant.
"Plug it into the central display, please," Willa instructed him with a quiet authority that shocked the entire room.
"Do not touch that machine!" Preston shouted, taking three aggressive steps toward the wooden stairs of the stage.
Before Preston could take another step, my father stood up from our table, his tall frame blocking the stairs completely.
"Let the child speak, Preston," my father said in a deep, menacing baritone that froze my husband in his tracks.
"You had no problem humiliating my daughter in public, so you can certainly handle whatever truth is on that drive," my father added.
The technician, sensing the overwhelming tension, took the black drive from Willa's hand and inserted it into the laptop.
The overhead chandeliers dimmed automatically as the ballroom's massive twenty-foot projector screen flickered to life.
Preston lunged forward, but two private security guards hired by my father moved in, firmly barring his path.
"Eleanor, stop this madness!" Preston pleaded, turning toward his mother, who was still holding Julian by the hand.
"Audrey, control your daughter before I strip you of every penny of child support!" Preston snarled viciously at me.
I looked him dead in the eye, folding my arms across my chest without offering him a shred of mercy.
"You gave up the right to make demands the moment you brought your mistress to this party, Preston," I replied coldly.
A sharp ping echoed through the sound system, and the first file opened on the colossal screen behind Willa.
It was not a collection of romantic affair texts or grainy photographs of luxury hotel suites.
It was an official forensic audit document stamped by the United States Department of the Treasury.
Bold red letters at the top of the header read: Unauthorized Asset Transfer and Corporate Embezzlement Audit.
The entire front row of guests, which included the managing partners of Preston's investment firm, leaned forward in horror.
"What the hell is this?" whispered Marcus Vance, the chairman of the board and Eleanor's oldest financial advisor.
Willa adjusted the microphone slightly, her small fingers steady against the cold chrome metal.
"This is the money my dad stole from Grandma's family trust over the last three years," Willa announced plainly.
Eleanor's head snapped up from the little boy, her eyes widening in absolute terror as she stared at the glowing numbers.
"Preston... what is she talking about?" Eleanor stammered, her voice trembling violently beneath her diamonds.
On the screen, hundreds of transactions flashed in rapid succession, detailing over twenty-four million dollars siphoned away.

Every single dollar had been redirected into an offshore shell company registered under a name everyone in the room suddenly recognized.
The legal owner of the shell corporation was listed in bold black ink: Sabrina Lowell.
