Chapter 5 - “I WAS SUPPOSED TO WATCH HER ”Victoria finally broke.

She confessed that Nathan placed her near Caroline to learn what Caroline knew.
“I was supposed to watch her.”
Daniel stared through the interrogation-room glass.
Victoria continued.
“Not kill her.”
Nathan controlled Redmont.
He had been stealing from Bennett Aerospace for years with help from an executive inside Daniel’s company.
Caroline discovered the theft.
Nathan panicked.
Victoria tried to convince Caroline to stop investigating.
Caroline refused.
Three days later she died.
Victoria knew Nathan was responsible.
But she remained silent.
Then she approached Daniel months later under Nathan’s orders.
Daniel felt sick.
Every kiss.
Every dinner.
Every promise.
All of it had begun as an operation.
Yet Victoria claimed something unexpected.
“I did fall in love with him.”
Detective Reed looked at her.
“You terrorized his daughter.”
Victoria cried.
“I know.”
“You helped cover up his wife’s murder.”
“I know.”
“You tried to gain control of his child’s inheritance.”
“I know.”
