Chapter 4 - THE FILE CAROLINE LEFT BEHIND Caroline had hidden her evidence somewhere no criminal thought to search.
Inside Lily’s childhood memory box.
Daniel found a pink envelope beneath hospital bracelets, birthday cards and photographs.
Written across the front:
FOR DANIEL—IF I DON’T GET TO EXPLAIN.
His hands shook opening it.
Inside was a memory card.
Caroline had copied financial records.
Invoices.
Emails.
Photographs.
One image showed Nathan meeting a Bennett Aerospace executive.
Another showed Victoria.
The date shocked Daniel.
Victoria had met Caroline three months before Caroline died.
Yet when Daniel met Victoria later, she claimed she had never known his wife.
That lie destroyed the last possibility of coincidence.
Caroline had known Victoria.
