Chapter 2: The Mask Slips

The heavy silence that followed Christian’s declaration hung thick in the air of the master suite, heavy enough to choke. Victoria stood frozen in the doorway, her designer wedding gown sweeping across the pristine white tiles. For a fraction of a second, the mask of the innocent, elegant bride fractured, revealing the calculating predator underneath.

"You can't be serious, Christian," Victoria recovered quickly, her voice sharpening into a defensive, accusatory pitch as she stepped further into the bathroom. She gestured toward the hallway where invited guests were presumably still whispering in confusion. "We have half the city's elite downstairs! You're going to throw away our marriage over a brat's bedtime tears and a scrap of paper?"

Christian didn't flinch. He looked down at his daughter, who was still quietly weeping into her knees, before turning his unyielding gaze back to the woman he had foolishly trusted with his heart and his home.

"Don't ever call her a brat," Christian said, his voice a low, vibrating hum of controlled violence. "And don't ever pretend you care about anyone in this house other than the bank accounts tied to my last name."

Victoria’s eyes flashed with anger. She took another step forward, her manicured fingers curling into the delicate lace of her gown. "You owe me, Christian! After everything I've sacrificed to fit into this suffocating family, you're going to humiliate me over a child's imagination? I am your wife!"

"You were a tenant," a calm, chilling voice interrupted from the doorway.

Julian, Christian’s observant nephew, stepped quietly into the room. He wasn't crying anymore. His young face was set with a maturity far beyond his years. He held a small, encrypted tablet computer in his hands, its screen glowing with financial logs and transferred deeds.

Victoria snapped her head toward the boy, her face twisting into genuine panic. "What do you know, you little parasite?"

"Enough," Julian replied evenly, stepping beside Christian and placing a comforting hand on his uncle's arm. "Enough to know that three days ago, you transferred two million dollars from the family foundation into an offshore account registered under your maiden name. Enough to know that the 'accident' that happened to Chloe's mother two years ago wasn't an accident at all."

The color drained entirely from Victoria’s face. The sophisticated, untouchable socialite vanished, replaced by a cornered animal realizing the cage had locked from the outside.

With the financial fraud and dark history exposed in the open, how will Victoria attempt to escape her fate, and does Christian have one final trap waiting? Turn the page to Chapter 3.
