Chapter 5: The Interrogation Room Breakdown

The stainless steel table in the interrogation room felt like a block of ice as the arrogant aunt stared defiantly at the two federal agents. She refused to speak, demanding her high-priced corporate lawyers and threatening to sue the federal government for defamation. The lead agent simply smiled, dropping a massive stack of intercepted text messages and wiretap transcripts onto the metal table.
"Your lawyers just quit, ma'am, because we froze the accounts you were planning to use to pay their retainers," the agent said smoothly. He opened the folder, revealing a high-definition photograph of the black-market chemical broker she had paid to acquire the poison. The aunt's face drained of all color, her confident posture collapsing as the sheer weight of the federal evidence crushed her.
"I didn't want to kill her, I just wanted her to lose the baby so the trust wouldn't transfer to a new heir!" she sobbed pathetically, confessing on a hot microphone. "She didn't deserve that money, Julian is a nobody who brainwashed her into cutting us out of the family business!" The agents watched her breakdown with sheer disgust, documenting every venomous word that spilled from her trembling lips.

In the adjacent rooms, the rest of the family members began turning on each other like cornered rats in a sinking ship. Uncles and cousins eagerly offered up plea deals, throwing the aunt under the bus to save themselves from maximum-security sentences. The grand conspiracy shattered completely under the intense pressure of the American justice system, leaving the family entirely divided and defeated.
Julian watched the confessions through a one-way mirror, his arm resting gently in a medical sling from his heroic dive. He had successfully outplayed a family of billionaires at their own deadly game, using their arrogance as the ultimate weapon against them. His wife and child were finally safe from the vipers that had masqueraded as their loving relatives for decades.
