Chapter 9 - The Surrender of Power

"You have no authority to challenge me, Adrian," Victoria hissed, stepping closer. "I control the voting shares of Moretti Enterprises. I control the trust board. If you defy me over this pathetic little conservator and her bastards, I will strip you of the CEO title before the markets open tomorrow morning!"

"They aren't bastards, Victoria," I said, reaching into my pocket and withdrawing a fresh laboratory printout. I held it out for her to see.

**DNA SEQUENCING ANALYSIS: PATERNITY CONFIRMED AT 99.999%.**

"And as for the voting shares," I continued, signaling to Marcus.

Marcus handed a secondary document to Victoria’s lead attorney. The attorney scanned the page, and within ten seconds, his knees visibly buckled. He leaned in and whispered frantically into Victoria’s ear.

Victoria’s eyes widened in horror. "That's impossible. That clause was revoked!"

"It was never revoked," I told her. "My father knew you better than anyone. The moment you engaged an agent of the estate to conceal his bloodline, your voting shares were automatically frozen. As of twelve minutes ago, fifty-one percent of Moretti Enterprises transferred to a blind trust held exclusively in the names of Leo and Mia Moretti."

Victoria stumbled backward, reaching out to grasp the doorframe for support. The foundation of her entire life—her absolute, tyrannical control over the family empire—had vanished in an instant.

"You gave everything to them?" she whispered, trembling with incandescent rage. "To children who cannot even speak full sentences?"

"I gave everything to their mother," I corrected. "Evelyn is the sole trustee. Not you. And not me."

The marshals moved forward, clamping steel handcuffs around Thomas Carter’s wrists and dragging him out the door. Two more agents stepped toward Victoria’s attorneys, serving them with formal grand jury subpoenas.

"You've ruined us," Victoria whispered, looking at me with pure, unadulterated hatred. "You threw away a century of dominance for a woman who ran away from you."

"I didn't ruin us, Mother," I said softly, looking through her as if she were made of glass. "I saved my children from becoming you. Now get out of this house. If you ever come within one hundred miles of Evelyn or my children again, Marcus will release the offshore wire records to the Department of Justice. You won't just lose your empire; you'll spend your final years in a federal penitentiary."

Victoria stared at me, realizing for the first time that the boy she had molded into an unfeeling weapon was now turned irrevocably against her. Without another word, she turned on her heel and disappeared into the rain.

The room fell silent.

The marshals cleared out, leaving only Marcus standing near the door.

"Boss," Marcus said quietly. "It's done. Carter is in custody, Victoria’s lawyers are drafting the non-interference agreements, and the trust is legally locked."

"Thank you, Marcus," I breathed, feeling the crushing weight of a decade slowly lifting from my shoulders. "Take the team back to the hotel. I need to finish this."
