Chapter 2: The Excommunication and the Warehouse

By 8:00 AM the following morning, Victoria Vance had executed her threat with military, merciless precision.

When Julian attempted to use his corporate black card to pay for a private security team to transport Elena to the hospital for a fetal monitoring check, the card was declined. Within two hours, corporate security guards arrived at the penthouse, presenting a legally binding emergency injunction signed by three federal judges who sat in Victoria's pocket. The injunction claimed Julian was mentally unstable and temporarily suspended his executive powers at Vance Enterprises, freezing his personal bank accounts and revoking his access to all family residences.

They were cast out into the freezing New York autumn with nothing but the clothes on their backs, Julian's personal vehicle, and a few thousands dollars in emergency cash Rosa had secretly shoved into Elena’s coat pocket before they were escorted out of the lobby.

"Where do we go, Julian?" Elena asked, sitting in the passenger seat of his matte-black SUV, her hands wrapped protectively around her abdomen. Her face was still pale from the trauma of the night before, but her eyes were searching his for reassurance. "She took everything. We don't even have health insurance anymore."

Julian reached over, gripping her hand tightly. He looked at her not with defeat, but with the cold, calculating focus of a man who had just been untethered from a cage he had resented his entire life.

"She took the Vance trust, Elena," Julian said softly, his voice echoing with unbreakable confidence. "She didn't take my mind. And she has no idea who she just declared war on."

What Victoria Vance, her sycophantic board members, and the rest of high society did not understand—and what Julian had spent the last five years meticulously concealing—was that he had never relied solely on his mother’s empire.

While Victoria had forced him to sit at the head of Vance Real Estate Holdings as a puppet executive, Julian had secretly channeled his passion for aviation and logistics into a private shadow enterprise. Utilizing his own salary, his military and aviation contacts, and an encrypted network of private investors who despised his mother's monopolistic tactics, Julian had built Vanguard Global Aerospace & Logistics—a highly specialized defense transport and supply-chain network operating out of a massive, high-security facility in Newark.

He owned 100% of Vanguard under a clean, untraceable holding company. It was valued at over four billion dollars in liquid contracts and defense assets—making it larger and infinitely more stable than Victoria’s heavily leveraged real estate empire. He had kept it a secret to protect Elena from the cutthroat politics of his family, waiting for the right moment to step away from his mother's shadow entirely.

That moment had just arrived.

Julian drove them away from the glittering skyscrapers of Midtown Manhattan and across the river into the gritty, industrial heart of Newark. He pulled the SUV up to the reinforced steel gates of a massive, unmarked logistics compound. As the camera at the gate scanned his vehicle, the heavy steel barricades slid open instantly.

Inside, a dozen private security operatives in tactical gear stood at attention. A brilliant young woman in a sharp gray suit—Sarah Lin, Vanguard’s Chief Operating Officer and Julian’s most trusted tactical advisor—rushed out of the glass executive pavilion to greet them.

"Mr. Vance," Sarah said, opening Elena’s door with absolute respect and helping the pregnant woman out of the vehicle. "We saw the society news feeds this morning. Victoria is telling the press that you suffered a psychological breakdown and stepped down from the family trust."

"Let her spin her fairy tales, Sarah," Julian said, taking Elena's hand as they walked into the warm, ultra-modern executive suite of the facility—a sanctuary equipped with a private medical wing, residential quarters, and real-time global financial tracking screens. "She thinks she stripped us naked. I want a complete, microscopic financial audit of Vance Enterprises by midnight tonight. Track every commercial loan, every over-leveraged property, and every vulnerable credit line she possesses."

Elena looked around the massive, state-of-the-art command center, her eyes wide with shock and awe as she looked at her husband. "Julian... what is this place? Whose company is this?"

Julian wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close, resting his chin gently against her forehead.

"This is ours, Elena," Julian whispered, a fierce, protective smile breaking across his face. "This is what real power looks like when it's built on hard work instead of arrogance. Now, let's get a doctor to check on our baby. Then, I am going to buy my mother's empire."
